Colorado suffered its fourth school shooting since Columbine this week, an attack that claimed the life of 18-year-old Kendrick Castillo three days before he was set to graduate. Eight others were injured in the shooting. Two people, both students at the school, are in custody.

Students spend their school years preparing for shootings in lockdown drills, and administrators and law enforcement investigate countless warnings through the Safe2Tell system. Yet the violence, when it comes, continues to shock.

Educators, parents, students, Chalkbeat would like to hear from you in the wake of this shooting. How do you carry on with the school day? What would make you feel safer? What do people outside the educational system need to know?

Please take a few moments to share your thoughts with us.

The COVID-19 outbreak is changing our daily reality
