Parent advocates sought for school anti-obesity efforts

Colorado Action for Healthy Kids, a non-profit fighting child obesity and malnourishment, is seeking 20 to 25 parents or caregivers to join its Parent Advocate Program for the 2013-14 school year.

Advocates in the program receive leadership training, mentoring and a small stipend to help them pursue nutrition or physical activity projects at their schools.

Eligible applicants must be from K-12 schools where at least 40 percent of students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. The fall application deadline is Oct. 15.
