A thousand words: Charter students rally

Students from Jefferson County’s Rocky Mountain School for the Deaf perform the national anthem in American Sign Language Thursday at the Colorado League of Charter Schools’ rally on the steps of the Capitol.

The rally is an annual event, but this year students, teachers and families marked the twentieth anniversary of the Colorado Charter Schools Act. The rally featured former State Representative Peggy Kerns, one of the co-sponsors of the bil in 1993, who awarded student winners of an essay contest about charter schools.
