Reasonably healthy Valentine's Day treats from around the web

It is the day before Valentine’s Day. Your child asks if you remembered the treats for his or her school party tomorrow. Did you?

If not, we have saved you time by surfing the web and finding the healthiest Valentine’s treats around. Even if you already have some Valentine’s cookies made you can make one of these healthier snacks to keep the children off the walls in their classroom. Their teacher will thank you.

Healthy Rice Krispie snacks

While it is tempting to run to the store and buy rice krispie treats at the last minute, these homemade ones are almost as easy and much better for you and your kids. Add a touch of cherry, dark chocolate and honey to up the tastiness.

Perfect for kids with nut or dairy allergies! Only 175 calories per serving. And all you have to do is blend and freeze. Just make sure your child’s school has a freezer or make a special last-minute delivery.

While it can be nice to turn on the office to heat your house this winter, does anyone really object to no-cook treats? This is another recipe great for those with nut allergies and is easy for little fingers to hold. Fruit has its own natural sugar, but why not add some dairy to it with a cream cheese cupid dip? To be extra healthy you can skip the dip. Make up for the lack of pink sauce by painting the kabob sticks pink and add some cut out hearts to the ends.

Chocolate isn’t all bad, is it? These treats toe the line between teeny sandwich and petite French sable cookie. An extra bonus? You can store the dough for up to three months frozen. Make a little extra this time so you have an easy go-to snack next time you are in a pinch.
