Photo: Westy school dons purple for Jessica

On Thursday, students and staff at Westminster High School wore purple in honor of Jessica Ridgeway, the 10-year-old Westminster girl murdered last week after apparently being abducted on her way to school.

The photo at right, provided by the Westminster Adams 50 School District, shows the impact of that decision – a school community, clad in purple, paying their respects. For the full effect, click on the photo to enlarge to full size.

Westminster High students and faculty also raised enough money to purchase dinner Thursday for more than 200 members of the Westminster Police Department, FBI and other agencies investigating the case. See this Fox 31 story for more information.

Meanwhile, high school students in Jefferson County are working on a project called Jessica’s Angels in Jessica’s memory. It asks students at five Jeffco high schools to watch over elementary students after school. Check this Denver Post story and the Jessica’s Angels Facebook page for more information.
