Tuesday Churn: SBE makes plans

What’s churning:

The State Board of Education has announced an extensive set of meetings and hearings to draft rules for the new educator evaluation system.

The process will start next week during the board’s monthly meeting. The board will discuss the recent recommendations of the State Council for Educator Effectiveness on May 11 and hold a second session another session from 10 a.m. to noon on the 12th, during which public comment will be taken.

On June 8, the board will review draft rules developed by Department of Education staff and then hold public comment meetings on June 14 and July 12. Two rule-making hearings will be held Sept. 14 and Oct. 5. Get more information here, and find links to the council’s recommendations here.
