Mayoral forum a polite affair

Six mayoral candidates discussed education issues Tuesday evening in a polite 90-minute session that touched on mayoral control and Colorado’s landmark teacher effectiveness law.

The event was sponsored by five non-profit education advocacy groups. They chose the six mayoral candidates who had raised the most money through January. A total of ten candidates are on the May ballot.

The candidates who participated were Carol Boigon, Michael Hancock, Doug Linkhart, James Mejia, Chris Romer and Theresa Spahn.

The debate was sponsored by Education Reform Now, Get Smart Schools, Colorado Stand for Children, Colorado Democrats for Education Reform , A+ Denver, the Colorado League of Charter Schools and the DPS Foundation.
