2014 Colorado District Accreditation Rating

2014 Colorado district accreditation ratings

The Colorado Department of Education officials on Wednesday released the 2014 state ratings for districts, as required under the Education Accountability Act of 2009.

Districts that fall in the two lowest ratings face sanctions, including the loss of accreditation, if they don’t improve within five years. This year, two small rural school districts that had reached the end of the clock narrowly escaped those sanctions after they shuttered their low-performing online schools.

Eight school districts, including Pueblo City Schools, Julesburg, and Sheridan, have reached year five. If they don’t improve within the next year, they will likely be the state’s first test on its school accountability laws.

Individual school ratings will be released in December.
