Tedx talk on school movement coming to Jeffco

Colorado educators, administrators and students will talk about the connection between physical activity and academic success at next Thursday’s “TedxCrestmoorParkED”, a locally-organized version of the national TED conference.

Titled “The Education SPARK,” the three-hour event at the Lakewood Cultural Center will feature discussions on how movement during the school day can help students learn, stay engaged and decrease their chances of dropping out.

Among the speakers will be David Kollar, director of Jeffco Schools’ Office of Dropout Prevention and Recovery, Cyrus Weinberger, principal of Erie’s Red Hawk Elementary School, which has been nationally recognized for its “All-School Movement Program”, and Kim Bevill, founder of the education consulting group Gray Matters.

The event, presented by Colorado Public Television from 2-5 p.m. on Oct. 24, is sold out, but a live broadcast will be available here. For more information about the event and featured speakers, click here.
