State panel targets school discipline

Zero tolerance policies came in for a lot of criticism Wednesday at the first meeting of a legislative study committee assigned to review discipline methods in Colorado schools.

Such policies have lead to criminalization of students who commit minor infractions, exploding suspension and expulsion rates, increased dropout rates and reduced student achievement, witnesses told the Legislative Task Force to Study School Discipline, meeting at the Capitol. Eaton boys, girls stay in same hotel room on trip

DENVER – Some parents in Eaton are upset that teenage boys and girls were asked to sleep in the same hotel rooms on a trip to Denver.

It happened at a Marriott hotel in the Denver Tech Center when the cheerleading team was attending a cheerleading camp. Watch the 9NEWS report.

NSCC releases school climate policy scan results

Bullying awareness is on the rise across the United States, but many politicians and educators are still struggling to address the threat posed by such anti-social behavior.
