State ed board finally agrees on parent notice rule
The State Board of Education has voted unanimously to pass a regulation that requires schools to notify parents whenever a staff member is arrested. The board has wrestled with the issue off and on for a year, and an earlier version of the proposal failed to pass last year. The idea has been pushed by board Chair Bob Schaffer, R-4th District, who was prompted by past notification missteps in Fort Collins schools. Read more in Education News Colorado.
Mother of boy arrested for BB gun at school speaks up
The mother of a 10-year-old Lafayette boy arrested last week on suspicion of bringing a BB gun to a school playground and threatening other students is upset with the way officers handled the situation, saying they treated her child like a common criminal and that the boy meant no harm. BROOMFIELD – An employee with the Adams 12 School District has been arrested for allegedly having child pornography on his personal computer. Brandon Leyte, 19, is accused of sexual exploitation on a child. Investigators said Leyte had child porn on his personal computer. Watch this CBS4 report.

Alameda H.S. coach advised of felony sex assault charges
DENVER – On Wednesday, Wesley Adam Specht was advised of his charges, which include sex assault on a child in a position of trust, which is a felony. If convicted, he will serve a mandatory eight to 24 year sentence. Watch the 9NEWS report.
